Intro to the Basics
If you feel overwhelmed by the options and
don't know where to begin, come along for an
introductory day to survival basics. We'll be in a
wild or semi-wild location operating with the scenario that we
are lost on a day hike or stranded in the wild
without camping gear or basic necessities. If
we were there indefinitely with only a knife, what
would we do? Where would we begin?
We will start by building a debris shelter for protection
against the elements and move into finding safe drinking water and the right
materials we need in order to make a fire with out matches. As the day moves
on we will be learning techniques for reading the landscape and blending into
it. If time permits we may address some hunting and trapping basics. This
can be a very demanding and full day, but please remember that I will teach
at your pace and make sure that you are in a safe and productive environment. The day is very
flexible and you should not feel
that you have to master a skill or push to hard.
You may learn and try the skills while constructing
the tools and crafts needed or you can just watch
demonstrations - which ever is comfortable for
you.
