Shelter
Shelter is paramount for survival: A shelter must be built before addressing any other needs. Exposure to the elements can kill you before you even feel hungry or thisty. You may also need protection from sub-zero temperatures, blinding desert sun, endless days of rain or snow and you may not even have a blanket or sleeping bag. In fact, you might not even have proper clothes necessary for unexpected weather conditions.

Many people have died in the wilderness because they didn’t understand the basic concepts of shelter. Often people imitate first aid manuals or military issue hand-books that depict simple lean-to’s made out of tarps and string but they use equipment you're not likely to have. Lean-to’s are also only good for rain and depend on a fire to keep you warm. These programs will show you how to make debris shelters, using only sticks and leaf debris that will keep warm in negative degree temperatures without any special clothing or sleeping bags. You will leave with a simple age old skill that may save your life or the life of someone you love.
